Closing Announcement

A Message from Mindy

Thank you for your support and patience these past two months, as I’ve explored potential options for the future of the shop. After talking with several interested buyers, the timing wasn’t right for them and so I’m moving forward with the second road, to close the shop and transition to online sales. I’m grateful we were able to extend our lease through July to explore these options and to continue supporting you. During this past decade as your local yarn shop, we’ve been touched by your visits, your emails, your passion for fiber crafts, and your support of our special community.

I have been deeply torn about this decision, and have been very emotional as I think about how many special relationships have formed from this place, this community.  My original vision was to create a welcoming space where you could find connection, community, creativity, and learning. I deeply hope you have found that during our time here, and more. I continue to be amazed by each of you, whether you joined us as a new knitter or crocheter, or an experienced crafter.

I’d like to be a bit more transparent about this decision. In addition to my readiness to explore new career paths, this decision is also partly financial. Like so many small businesses, during the pandemic, my focus was to keep the shop open for our community, and to do that, I had to secure funding through several channels. This included significant loans, which will need to be paid back. Closing the shop, selling as much merchandise, shop samples, and fixtures as possible will help enable those debts to be fulfilled. Look for our “Yarn-o-Meter” to see how close we are to reaching our financial goal, while you stock up on all your favorite products before they disappear.

On Friday, July 9, we will begin our Closing Sale, with all merchandise at 20% off. You’ll want to shop early to stock up on your favorites! We will provide a coupon code on the Shop page of our website if you would like to shop online, as well.

Some of our yarn, including Shibui and Woolfolk, will be re-homed to another local yarn shop next week, so shop this Friday or Saturday if you don’t want to miss either of these fabulous yarns while they are still available in our shop.

The sale will continue through July, but don’t wait until the prices drop - your favorite products, especially in sweater- or blanket-quantities, will be gone! This is a perfect time to restock after all your pandemic knitting and crocheting.

Later in July, we will also be selling some of our shop samples, as well as some of our fixtures.

We are open for walk-in shopping on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 12:00-4:00 PM and look forward to seeing you.
  • Please wear your mask and sanitize as you enter.
  • If the shop gets too busy for appropriate social distancing, we may ask you to wait outside for a short time.
  • Appointments are no longer needed or available.
We’ll have a place for you to share your favorite memories with us, and I know your visits and these notes will be a precious part of this “binding off” process. We will be holding a celebration toward the end of July or early August, as the timing becomes more clear.

Each of you has touched our hearts, and we hope we have touched yours as well, as we share our love for yarn, knitting, crochet, and all the joys that accompany this craft. Thank you for all the years we’ve been a part of this amazing community. You have brought us into your lives, through the connection of yarn, and it’s been an honor and a privilege to be your local yarn shop.

And now, it is time for us to take the next road less traveled…

With love,
Mindy, Leslie, and Cindy
