Caring for Our Fiber Community - Temporary Closure - Updated March 21

Updated March 21:  Read our March 19 Newsletter for ways to stay connected!

Updated at 3:30 pm on March 16, 2020

Effective March 16, due to a county-wide mandate, our shop is temporarily closed until April 7.

We are working on alternative ways to support you and will announce them here shortly.
We are all in this together!  Please check here for regular updates, and stay well.
Knitting and crocheting provide solace!

Updated Saturday, March 14, 2020:

As we monitor the recommendations of our local and broader government entities regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are making decisions based on what we feel is best for the health of our fiber community and shop staff.
Limited In-Store Access
With a heavy heart and tremendous care, I've made the decision to limit in-store access, beginning on Tuesday, March 17, through Tuesday, March 31 (or longer if necessary).

We will schedule 15-minute appointments for shopping or project help, as well as curbside pickup or shipping for phone purchases. Please call the shop at 925-263-2661 or email us at to request an appointment.

As much as we love to see you, we are not offering in-shop knitting or crocheting around the table and we ask that you do not visit if you have any symptoms of illness (cold, flu, or virus), for your sake and ours.

We are happy to be your Personal Shoppers! Please call 925-263-2661 or email to schedule an appointment or to shop by phone. If you are choosing to stay home, we can also schedule virtual video shopping tours or project help, and we can ship your purchases if you prefer not to pick them up curbside.

Classes and Events
Beginning Tuesday, March 17, we'll be postponing our remaining events this month, including active Knit Alongs and our Invictus Pop-Up Boutique, scheduled for March 21. Kira's classes for Sunday, March 15 will go on as planned, as we have plenty of space for attendees to spread out.

For canceled classes, we will offer the option for a refund or store credit to use on future classes. If you are registered for the "Let's Begin: Learn to Knit" class and are half-way through, we'll schedule the second session for early April.

Stay in Touch
We will have staff in the shop during regular business hours, and will be looking for other creative ways to support you during this unprecedented time. Please continue to check our website and on our social media pages for updated information (Facebook and Instagram).

Support Local Small Businesses
If you are looking for ways to help support all your local businesses, including restaurants, small shops, etc., please consider purchasing gift cards online or by phone, where available. So many small businesses in our community will be affected for the long-term, though we hope the closures or limited business hours may be short-term. For more ideas and ways to support yourself, our yarn community, and small yarn businesses, read today's announcement.

We appreciate your understanding. Thank you for supporting our fiber community and our extended community during this uncertain time.

With warm regards,
Mindy and the AYLR Team

We care about the health of our beloved fiber community!  This is a stressful time and we encourage you to pick up your knitting and crocheting to stitch your stress away.

We’re here to help, and we are taking key actions to help ensure your safety and health, and ours, during this coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis.  We are requesting that you help by following CDC guidelines.

Here’s what we’re doing:

  • We’ll greet you with a wave and a friendly hello, and we’ll save the hugs and handshakes for later.

  • We’re sanitizing all common spaces and surfaces often, as well as washing our hands often, and we’re making hand sanitizer available for you.

  • We are asking any of our community who are sick or have low immunities to please stay home and call us for shopping assistance.

  • If our staff is sick (cold, flu, etc.), we are staying home until symptoms are gone.

  • We are happy to offer curbside pick-up and shipping for phone purchases.  Just call 925-263-2661 during shop hours and we’ll be your Personal Shoppers!

  • We can help walk you through simple project fixes by phone, by email with photos, or by video chat.  Give us a call at 925-263-2661 during shop hours and we’ll work with you to keep your project going.

  • If necessary, we will reschedule classes and events (Knit Alongs, etc.) and will let attendees know.  Our classroom is large enough to spread out so you are not sitting too close to each other, and we are cleaning the surfaces regularly.

  • We will give store credit if you cancel your class attendance due to illness in March, and we'll extend this to our guest instructor classes.

  • As much as we love seeing you in person, we are encouraging you to take advantage of our phone shopping option as much as possible.

We are watching the situation closely and will keep you updated in our newsletter, on our website, and via our social media accounts (FaceBook and Instagram).

Thank you for continuing to support our A Yarn Less Raveled community during this uncertain time.  Please stay well and let us know what we can do to support you.
