::Virtual:: Gauge and Blocking with Kira K

What You Will Learn:
Checking your gauge is necessary if you want projects to fit, but a lot of people aren't sure if they're doing it right. In this class, we'll discuss why gauge is so important, the best way to make a swatch and the rare times when you can get away with being not quite on-gauge.

We will also practice measuring gauge on a variety of stitch patterns, and go through the process of both wet blocking and steam blocking. This class will be useful for anyone who knits or crochets garments or accessories.

Students will receive a handout and the slides shown during class and will be able to re-watch the recorded demonstrations. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions during class.

Materials Needed:

  • This is a lecture and demonstration-style class so you don't need to have any tools and you are welcome to knit or crochet while watching.
  • You may want to print out the handout that will be emailed to you two days in advance and/or have note-taking supplies and a calculator on hand.
  • You'll need Zoom access on a computer or tablet/iPad. We do not recommend attending this class on a smartphone, as the image may be too small for you to see the demonstrations.
  • Zoom instructions and a link will be provided in your class email within a week of the class date.
