::Virtual:: Successful Yarn Substitution with Kira K

It can be nerve-wracking to switch the yarn on a project, yet sometimes necessary. Learning how to pick a successful substitute means you’ll never have to abandon a pattern written for a discontinued yarn, make a sweater too warm for your climate, choose from a line of colors you don’t like, or feel required to buy a yarn that's not in your budget.

We’ll talk about all of the considerations, with a special focus on how fiber content and yarn construction affect the finished project.

You will have many opportunities to ask questions during the lecture-style workshop.

  • This is a lecture-style class so you don't need to have any tools and you are welcome to knit or crochet while watching.
  • You may want to print out the handout that will be emailed to you two days in advance and/or have note-taking supplies at hand.
  • Zoom access on a computer or tablet/iPad. We do not recommend attending this class on a smartphone, as the image may be too small for you to see the demonstrations.
  • Zoom instructions and a link will be provided in your class email within a week of the class date.
  • Duration: 2 hours, via Zoom
  • Minimum to run class: 4 students
  • Maximum: 25 students
  • Cancelation Policy: This is a Guest Instructor workshop and registration fees are not refundable or exchangeable. Please see the main class page.
